It'll be part of a diddy camp by now.

Or else full of the usual brain surgeons and astrophysicists fleeing turmoil in Syria. Your cool box is a makeshift mosque.

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
Sell it all on eBay with local collection only from where it is.

Use the money raised and the money you would have spent to ship it/ van hire and your own time and buy all the gear again from eBay in the uk

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
I've driven vans from Kent to Amsterdam, Spain a few times.
It can be expensive unless it's a mates van.

The only other way i can think of is a one way hire, theres a few sites that log vehicles in countries that need to be returned home so work out cheaper, i looked at the option when i went to Italy in December.
Fly out, drive back.

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
thought about it yes - but my sister in law has to move house in the next couple of months so we need to shift it sooner rather than later.

i've asked if she has a mate or someone who could lend me a van - no dice either.

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
Hard luck, still there have been some reasonable options offered up that could solve your problem

Have you thought of leaving the kit in France and picking it up, where it is, as part of next year's holiday?

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
Yes comma it did*

*now expired - complicated story but that's gone as an option - bugger.

Nobody c*nted me off for non football topic? - site dogs etc

Have you got a new car?

Probably hiring a trailer will be a lot cheaper than hiring a van, even after factoring in the extra ferry fare

Fuck taking a van through Calais. Try and find a different port.

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
Depends what you really want to do.

If you want to do it yourself, then just hire a van or whatever you need,

If you want to pay someone to pick it up and deliver to you, it depends on your budget. There are plenty of people who runs vans to and from France. Just remember, you get what you pay for. A cheap job will be a cheap job.

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
Dedicated vehicle will cost a lot, as said a groupage service will be more economical.

The cheapest option will be to palletise it, have it wrapped and shipped like that.

I used this guy a few years ago to move a vintage motorbike to UK and back again to SW France. He might have gone up in price a bit but try at

Re: advice please WHO - moving stuff from France
When I was in Portugal a couple of years ago I was chatting with a gent about getting some roof tiles moved from there to the UK. He said there are loads of vans going both ways and if you look in the local English papers you would find details. There might even be web sites for this. I didn't pursue it at the time but I would imagine there must be similar for France.

Do a search and see what comes up. Like man and a van france or something.

I'm probably being thick, but couldn't you hire a Transit and drive over there to get it?
